Candy Striper isn’t just a painting—it’s a story of resilience.

I painted this 18 years ago, not realizing I was creating an emotional diary of my life. In the middle of painting it, I was diagnosed with cancer. The vibrant colors, bold stripes, and scattered dots were more than design choices—they were emotions I didn’t yet have words for.

The stripes revealed tension and chaos. The dots became safe places to land. And the colors reminded me that even in the darkest moments, there was still beauty and hope.

I finished this piece after a long recovery and years later realized—it had been therapy all along. Art has a way of helping us process emotions we don’t even realize we’re holding.

This piece is for survivors, for those going through struggle, and for anyone who believes that art has the power to heal.
